Pakistan’s awesome victroy against NZ

June 13, 2009

gulI had no high hopes from our Cricket team but the match turned out to be a real treat. It was a do or die situation and all the players recognized their responsibility to the fullest. I especially loved Shahid Afridi’s stunning catch of Gul’s ball.

Today not just the balling but also the fielding including catches seemed much improved.

The star of the match of course was Umar Gul who became a first man in T20 to take 5 (wickets) for 6(runs). It was great to see him in the lethal form.

With a fantastic victory over NZ Pakistan now looks for a place in the semi finals. I hope they won’t take Ireland lightly and march confidently into semis.

Awesome game. Now let’s hope they don’t spoil it by NOT beating Ireland. Plus, it’ll be sweet if India is knocked out before the semis

I think Ireland had beaten Pakistan in the 2007 WC? Pakistan should work on the strategy how to deal with them this time.

hmm…thanks goodness we won. but Pakistan needs to beat Ireland with a big margin to get into semis…

Can we expect them to play against Ireland like they played against Netherlands? 😐

This man Gul’s a sensation; isn’t he? 🙂 I love him for being the most consistent of the performers for Pakistan.
Fingers crossed for the Ireland match this evening. Let’s hope they play with the same intensity they trounced New Zealand with.

Pakistan won the match. Can they move to semis now? 🙄

They’ve already moved to the semis with this win. Am so happy for the way they played today. They topped the group run rates. It was a good team effort. Two more wins and our dejected nation will get a much needed boost, inshaAllah!

    Well played team Pakistan! 🙂

Cricinfo {www.cricinfo.com} has rightly labeled today’s semi-final as “Science vs. Art”, “Machines vs. Men”, “Clash of cultures”, “clash of ethos, of philosophies and even of time”.
Pakistan’s win wouldn’t be surprising but a victory of art over science, triumph of dysfunctionals over accurate machines. Nevertheless, I rank Pakistan as favorites. These mates know the art of demolishing super perfects.

We’d find out soon what Pakistan does today…
