Peshawar Blast!

November 11, 2008

car-damagedThat’s so sad. The provincial government was trying to present the “soft image” of the province by fully supporting those games but the terrorist struck. Once again the minister had a narrow escape as apparently he was the target.

PESHAWAR: A powerful blast rocked the Qayum stadium at the closing ceremony of the inter-provincial games here on Tuesday.

According to Geo News, the blast occurred at the main gate of Qayum Stadium at a time when senior NWFP minister, Bashir Ahmed Bilour left the place. The blast also destroyed four vehicles.

The policeman could also be among the dead. Injured are being shifted to the hospital.

I was really looking forward to a successful holding of the games in peshawar as it would present a softer, lighter image of the city but alas!

    May peace prevail here!
