Pakistan Post

May 28, 2008

PakpostlogoOkay, so I have been hearing all about the inflation but you can never feel it unless and until you have to spent from your own pocket. I had to send a parcel to brother. Keeping in mind the previous rates (only a few months back) I estimated, it wouldn’t cost me more than 480 Rs. Just as I had expected, the parcel valued 380 Rs but it was the GST plus Pakistan Post mailing charges that shocked me. The parcel of that size and weight would cost about 380 to 450 Rs a few months back, now it costs 1208 Rs. Perhaps it’s all due to rising fuel prices…

The inflation in the recent months has been a record high in the history of this country. Our rulers, when in office periodically issue statements about the good progress of economy but when they leave, the new government throws a bomb shell that our foreign reserves are all time low and we are on the brink of collapse. I believe, we as a nation have been blessed with all the resources but honest politicians.

Everything is too expensive now – So many things to be sorted out – so much to be done – if only they would start someplace now instead of planning endlessly!

They need to take concrete steps and to provide relief to the public in real sense.

Every single institution in the country has sacrificed its integrity to the hordes of corruption, indifference, no professionalism and disregard for public..Forget accountability and honestly….All we will hear is hollow tunes…The question, where do we start? which institution…society in itself as in institution is falling apart,…every day, we hear, some more bad news..not a day goes past without Pakistan being mentioned in one way or another….We never hear what is happening in Scandanavian countries and many others…no news is a good news…This burden of carrying this responsibility of justice and awareness is a huge task…..will it get to the masses? Will politicians be able to deliver this to the people? Will they ever get to know the common man’s perceptions about these institutions; about themselves…The noble profession to serve people, is been twisted to such an extent it has become almost unbearable but still we must find ways to cope with this….

“every day, we hear, some more bad news”

Really I don’t like reading newspaper anymore as there is no good news about the future of this country.

Inflation, Power shortage, depleting foreign reserves… I wonder what went wrong? Till last year they were saying everything is fine and we have 12 billion $ in reserve.

I stopped reading newspaper long time ago as well, as it carries nothing but a trail of disasters and corruption
