Reflections (Quotes by Ghani Khan)

  • When God gifts us to the World, the World receives us with two hands. When He recalls us – the World throws us back with four hands.
  • Tolerance is a positive force, which teaches us to live not only with the positive but also the negative forces.
  • The existence of the company of the Devil made me conscious of the value of the company of God.
  • A sword may be used for defending and offending. It is the purpose which gives value.
  • If someone is jealous of you, it should make you happy, as it means there is something special and worthwhile in you which the jealous person lacks.
  • Don’t worry, think instead.
  • Democracy, Autocracy, Socialism, Capitalism are slogans – the cries of the weak and oppressed.
  • Infatuation … like cold winds in the midst of summer. Dark clouds, raindrops, chilly winds … as in winter. It is not winter … it is not love.
  • Foreign service – a virtual life of self-imposed exile.
  • To reach the destination is desirable. But the reach to the destination is enjoyable.

  8. Hello, Am thrilled that you are enjoying this little book. It was compiled by my mother and are my grandfather’s quotes. Some of you are confusing him with the poet Ghani Khan son of Badshah Khan. This s not Ghani Khan the poets work. Its Sardar Abdul Ghani Khan brother of Sardar Abdur Rab Nishtar. Just thought I would clarify that. There is no other work of his published. My mother had these published after he died. Do let me know where you bought the book though. Thanks

    • Saira: Welcome to my blog and thanks for the clarification. I am also one of those who confused it with the work of Ghani Khan the poet.

I think Tahira gifted it to my sister years ago :)

  9. I too mistook it to the thoughts of Ghani Khan the poet; anyway its nice to hear about another legend with the same name. Will love to know more about the personality.

  10. My quote these days is Hardwork never pays off in life..Its only luck that matters in life:(:(…I am dejected with working hard in life and getting not just reward..Why life is so unfair???

  11. Perhaps it is a good idea for the author of this blog to make the requisite change ie these are quotes by Ghani Khan Nishtar and Ghani Khan s/o Bacha Khan ie the Pushto Poet.
