The Terror of Taliban in Swat

talibanTehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan, Swat, led by Mullah Fazlullah, has grown into a meance that now seems beyond control.

Yesterday, the newspaper report said that the Taliban in Swat have issued a list of 47 wanted people, most of them are former or present federal and provincial ministers. They’ve ordered them to appear in their court.

The Taliban in Swat have gained strong control as people from those areas say that they have established checkpoints next to the security forces’ checkposts and no one dare to question them.

The people are subjected to listen to the FM channel of Mullah Fazlullah and every person must have a radio set at home. TV isn’t allowed as from 2004 onwards I have been reading in the papers that local residents, being brainwashed, collectively burn their television sets in Matta and Dir areas.

No one can talk against the Taliban because if they did then they’ve to pay price with their blood. The Taliban don’t even hesitate to kill the women and throw their bodies on the road. Bombing and torching schools (even the boys’ school) or the houses of their opponents are a common act. So are the slaughtering and defacing the dead.

From what we read in the papers and especially hear from the residents of those areas it seems that the security forces have totally failed to nab them. Although people loathe the Taliban but due to fear no one can say anything.

Swat would be called the Switzerland of Asia. It’s worse than hell now!

  1. I believe these people are not Muslims :S

  2. Let alone Muslims I believe they aren’t even humans :?

  3. Sad sad situation in one of the beautiful places of Pakistan!
There are numerous questions about the Governmental role in the aggravated situation in Swat. There are lots of quandaries about who is fighting who in there. The role of foreign hands isn’t a secret any more. The role of mullahs and the provincial government has also been very pathetic to say the least. One thing beyond ones imagination is how come the Army with all its might hasn’t been able to wipe the cancerous talibans from the face of Swat?
Things’ve just gone from worse to worst I fear!

  4. Taliban is growing out of reach of Pakistan and will continue to do so. There seem to be many, who the face condemn Taliban, but may actually be helping them from behind. Reason:- To control the land of Pakistan. A list of such probable players :-

US:- Wants to control Pak Land for central asian oil flow.
China :- To extend influence in South-east Asia and Mid-east.
India :- For laying Pipelines carrying Gas from Central Asia to politically important North India.
Afghanistan :- To have direct access to Arabian Sea.
    Russia :- Fence sitter.

  5. This is why, at times I tend to support the US drones attacks in S & North Waziristan as long as common people don’t suffer which according to me, are not doing now. I don’t think the ones hosting the Taliban in these areas are common. Though the families suffer along but then why they host such people? To hell with PK being a sovereign country. Our army is pathetic as well, in fact they just don’t want to take any considerable action. They are just there so that the military aid keeps coming in the operation’s name.

Then the politicians, Qaziz & Maulana Diesels + whoever follow them are maha postiz. They won’t let letting anyone to take a considerable action. Had the authorities taken the so called PK talibans (majority have criminal backgrounds) seriously right when they were just in the making & their relations were not so strong with the afghan side talibans, things would have been different now.

The ganjay k nakhun or perhaps bandar k haath mein machis valay phrases can rightly be used for ‘em. They think if running a state is so easy.

  6. Just wondering at responses of people here.Talibanisation started when Zia destroyed the cultural fabric by ruthless islamisation of nation. There has been down fall since then.It is ridiculous for people to be shocked when we have people openly supporting Taliban in society openly.Such kind of shameful hypocrisy was evident recently after Mumbai blasts. One wonders what will happen if US leaves the region-our army filled with religious mad dogs will ruin nation.Islam was excessively used already over last 50 years in every area of life-no wonder we have these animals roaming on our soil.Mention India or USA-we immediately revert to supporting islamic ideology-well lets enjoy that ideology which we shamelessly supported through this brutal butchering. We have no right to blame external forces for this mess.We have taken religion out of its limits.

  7. I’m surprised at the tone of anguish and all the fuss that has been made out in this post and the comments following it. What’s happening in Swat and elsewhere in Pakistan is perfectly natural and is to be expected – the outcome of policies actively and tacitly supported by the people of Pakistan for the last 30 odd years. You can blame the mullah and the military directly but the underlying seal of approval has been that of the man on the street in Pakistan. One may claim ignorance & lack of education as probable causes for people subscribing to these ‘archaic’ practices but you can’t wish away the fact that these are the same people brought up on the mandatory ‘religious’ teachings of Islam, something which should have provided them ‘enlightenment’. Probably it did, that is why they behave the way they do.
In any case, just look at the hate spewing material and the bigotry that is evident in Pakistani blogs and newspapers ( English that is, let alone the Urdu press) which can be considered to be a fairly representative sample of the average Pakistani thinking.
So in essence, if you’ve already subscribed to the principle, why carp so much about the form.

  8. Ah i have a similar picture on my blog which i picked from NYT. Scary, isn’t it?

    Saad,

They are doing it in name of religion.

  9. i rmr seeing the Daniel Perl Video back in college… gave me the worst nightmare of all time … !!

  10. i m not sure if it was the same organization though …

  11. Aadil: Just like you we all are baffled!

Bmk: Man … your language is so funny, I am smiling *ear to ear grin* You’ve got to tell me what does “posti” mean? :D

Tazeen: It’s indeed very, very scary! :?

@nks: Don’t watch violence. I once watched Daniel’s murder video and I remained depressed for a whole month. As much as I know it’s not the same organization.

  12. posti means completey “drugged out” under the so called intoxicants like chrus, coke or any local material widely available..some time these postiz are also known as “Jazzs”…BMK can verify this….

  13. Kashkin, good to see you alive & kicking. : )
& fanx for explanation. May be you are right. I mean by POSTI as a hell-lazy/real-sleepy folk. I don’t remember if “Cherry” (from chowk & uni. friend) or Azure introduced this word to me.

  14. Hmm… it’s a new word for me :P

  15. I am watching the reports on TV and its really scaring the hell out of me – God save Pakistan from extreme groups – they are also causing trouble for us worldwide – getting the civil and political circles in real trouble these days!

  16. Hmm, very cognitive post.
Is this theme good unough for the Digg?

  17. such groups are cancers to society and should be exterminated

  18. All the double faced extremists are responsible for this situation
Extremists are not only those bloody taliban, but also those stupid bastards who humiliate any one for their interests. I am pointing towards the mean leaderships and some so called moderates. Well to blame one another at this time is not a good thing to do. I think we must support the army now to wipe out taliban. I am wondered on the thoughts of some of respectable post makers in this thread
But anyway, everyone has his own way of thinking

  19. it is side affects of afghan war or above three decade of non sense war done by isi

    so bad

  20. They are not muslims

  21. Nasir tell alie. about

  22. it’s scarey Is’nt it
